I Smell Tea!

If I could create a holiday my holiday would be Tea Day. This holiday would be held on December 16th of every year in honor of the Boston Tea Party.
For those of you who don’t know what the Boston Tea Party was an act of a protest by American Colonists against the British Government in which they destroyed many crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company on ships in the Boston Harbor. The incident, took place on Thursday, December 16, 1773. This event has been seen as the spark to the American Revolution. The whole reason why the Americans acted out was because the British wanted to tax the Tea and they weren’t having it.
On this day every restaurant and coffee place would hold a high tea ceremony through out the day. They would serve all types of tea for free throughout the day. But especially at 5 it would be served to the worker (miner, laborer or whatever) who comes in from work. The tea will also be served with a hot meal, such as sausage and chips, followed by bread, butter and jam, and cakes.
Everyone who chooses to participate in this holiday in a public place such as a restaurant or a cafĂ© place must dress up as American colonists of 1900’s. If you do not you will not get the benefit of free tea.
The whole purpose of this holiday is to bring the family together in a comfortable place. Sit around the table and drink tea. I believe it will give a sense of warmth and love and maybe a fresh start to prepare for the holiday of Christmas coming up. What’s not better to receive free tea and sit around with family dressed up as American Colonists!

I love this idea! I am a huge fan of tea. I would dress up to go out and get free tea and a meal. The cakes sound especially good! Would they serve cold/iced tea also? For some reason, I don't really like warm drinks, so cold tea is my favorite. The only problem is that our economy sucks so bad that we might not be able to afford this holiday. Perhaps some major companies would donate to the cause. Original idea!

Now this looks pretty unique! I'm not the biggest fan of tea in the world, but I would much love to participate in this holiday! Dressing up as a colonist and drinking tea all day long sounds pretty exciting! Now, I'm just a historic stickler, but I'm fairly certain the Boston Tea Party was in 1777, not 1977. Other than that, I'm gunning for this one. A Tea Day is something really different in this country. I'm surprised we haven't come up with this sort of thing yet, to be honest.
